Hello 3rd Trimester!

Wow, I can't believe I'm at the beginning of the end! Eeek!

Three items I've purchased recently:

From Pottery Barn Kids - It finally went on sale and I had to have it.

From Etsy - Obviously I'm excited for holidays this year!

How far along: 27 weeks - 3rd trimester!

Next appointment: August 9 - 28 week appointment (1 hour glucose test)

Any new aches/pains: The 3rd trimester was ushered in by a 4am cramp in my calf. Ow.

Maternity clothes: Except for one or two tops, it's all maternity clothes now.

Sleep: See above re: aches/pains.

Best moment this week: Getting to the 3rd trimester.

Movement: All the time. Some days it's a full on dance party and then he seems to need to rest a bit the following day.

Food cravings: 90 calorie Snickers Ice Cream Minis....good thing I have another coupon for these.

Belly button: My belly button deserves an award for how well it's hanging in there.

What I miss: Being able to sleep on my stomach.

What I'm looking forward to this week: Baby shower!

Weekly wisdom: If you've been stalking something on PBK for weeks and it finally goes on sale, buy it even if it still is a semi-ridiculous item you don't really need!

20 Week ultrasound pictures

It took me awhile to scan these, but here are a couple pictures from the 20 week ultrasound. Since this blog is public, I'm not going to post the "whoa it's a boy!" picture. You can take my word for it though - he's definitely a boy.

**Pictures removed 9/1/10 for privacy***

I noticed a new symptom tonight - cankles. I sat on the couch after dinner, looked at my ankles, and noticed they are a bit swollen. Not terribly swollen and probably not noticeable to strangers, but they're definitely puffier than usual. I'm sitting with my feet propped up on pillows right now and they seem to be going back to normal. I'm convinced the bowl of ice cream I just ate helped. :)

More nursery progress and clothes!

We made a little more progress on the nursery this weekend. P built some shelves and we hung artwork on the walls. It's not overly "baby" and none of the furniture really matches, but we're happy with it.

I ordered this whale bank from Pottery Barn Kids:

There's a whale basket that I really want, but it needs to go on sale. I just can't justify spending over $100 on a basket.

I had lunch with my parents in Va Beach on Friday, and my mom and I went to Busy Bee's at Hilltop afterward. We've been meaning to go in there for awhile now, and it might be better that we didn't! We were in baby clothes heaven. All the summer baby clothes were 50% off and we may have found our new favorite place to shop for traditional children's clothes.

I couldn't resist this shortall with smocked turtles:
I also bought this fleece hat. So cute!:

Someone needs to take away my credit card when the fall and winter clothes come out because I'm not going to be able to resist!

P has been doing some baby shopping of his own recently.

Let's hope the baby gets his father's brains:

And the nerd buying begins:

How far along:
25 weeks 5 days

Next appointment: August 9 - 28 week appointment

Any new aches/pains: Nothing new, just hips occasionally at night.

Maternity clothes: Except for one or two tops, it's all maternity clothes now.

Sleep: I'm still getting up at least once a night to use the bathroom and if I end up on my back I wake up with heartburn.

Best moment this week: Ask me tomorrow when I hit double digits! 99 days left!

Movement: Off and on all day and it's getting stronger!

Food cravings: Wendy's Jr Bacon Cheeseburgers

Belly button: It's still in, but getting flatter by the day.

What I miss: Now that the fall clothes are coming out, I miss shopping for regular clothes.

What I'm looking forward to this week: Hitting 99 days!

Weekly wisdom: Stay inside and in the a/c!

No, that's not my abs.

The baby has been kicking hard enough for a couple weeks now that I can feel it on the outside. However, whenever P puts his hand on my stomach the kicking stops. I think this means he has a calming effect on the baby, but it disappoints him. Before last night, he'd only felt movement once.

Last night, after some Edy's Slow Churned French Silk ice cream, the baby was having a great time in there. I put P's hand on my stomach, and of course the movement stopped. Patrick decided that maybe "yelling" at the baby would get him to kick so he loudly said "Finn! Kick for me." The baby gave his strongest kick yet and P's hand bounced up off my stomach! He got an amazed look on his face and said "What that him? Or your abs?". I burst out laughing and said "No, that wasn't my abs. I don't have abs anymore!". Let's just hope the kicks stay pointed outwards and not at my ribs.

Nursery progress and purchases!

Our crib and glider were delivered yesterday, and we received our crib mattress over the weekend. We were very excited to put them together last night!

We purchased a Delta Venetian Lifetime Non-Drop Side Crib from Babies R Us and a Sealy Baby Ultra Rest mattress:

The mattress fits well in this crib. There is a gap of 1 small finger width between the crib and the mattress (my fingers are pretty small). The sheet in the picture is the turtle crib sheet from Pottery Barn Kids.

Our glider is the Bergamo Glider and Ottoman Combo in Medium Oak & Oatmeal, also from Babies R Us. We wanted a glider that was on the smaller side that wouldn't look ridiculous in our living room years from now. We both can comfortably sit and rock in this one:

We also recently received our first gift! My college roommate can't make it to my baby shower, and she sent us the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Deep Blue Sea bouncer! It's currently sitting on our kitchen table because we like to look at it.
Another recent purchase was our stroller. After reading the reviews and playing with it in a store, we chose the Baby Jogger City Mini. Apparently it's the #1 selling stroller in the US right now because it's often sold out online (nowhere to purchase it in a store in Hampton Roads). We ordered the stone color and are looking forward to using it. The fold is indescribably easy, and that's coming from someone 5 feet tall with no muscles. I also like that it reclines nearly flat and can be used from birth. We'll start off with a Snap & Go for our carseat, but I also envision walks with the baby in the City Mini.

Viability!

I made it to 24 weeks and viability! Very exciting! I had my 24 week appointment today which was boring (a good thing, I think). We listened to the heartbeat and they gave me the nasty stuff to drink for the 1 hour glucose tolerance test at my next appointment.

My mom recently ordered the fabric for the crib skirt and bumper - it's a gingham seersucker in green and white:

We've ordered the crib, mattress (which should be delivered today), and glider (which should be delivered Monday). It feels like Christmas! We're hoping to get the nursery as done as possible, minus the furniture of course, by the end of this weekend.

How far along: 24 weeks 1 day

Next appointment: August 9 - 28 week appointment

Any new aches/pains: Nothing new, just hips occasionally at night.

Maternity clothes: Except for one or two tops, it's all maternity clothes now.

Sleep: I'm still getting up at least once a night to use the bathroom and if I end up on my back I wake up with heartburn.

Best moment this week: Hitting the viability point! Obviously I would never want to go into labor this early, but it's nice to know that his survival is greater than 50% now.

Movement: Off and on all day and it's getting stronger!

Food cravings: Last night I really wanted a milkshake, but satisfied myself with chocolate milk instead.

Belly button: It's still in, but getting flatter by the day.

What I miss: Bud Light Lime on these hot days we've been having.

What I'm looking forward to this week: Furniture being delivered.

Weekly wisdom: Always make a pee plan because you don't want to end up stuck without a bathroom.
